Resources for Governments/Health Departments
Working for a local or state Health Department or government agency? Here's a few ways CAPS and HIV prevention research can help. See below for a real life example.
Inform local service agencies on current issues in HIV prevention
Offer replicable interventions
Provide technical assistance
Encourage community collaborative research
Examples of how government agencies have used CAPS
"The TIE Core did a wonderful job pulling together a diverse set
of findings from Project START--a
large multi-site study to develop an test an HIV and STD intervention
for young men leaving prison. The project involved researchers in 4
different states and the Centers for Disease Control. The TIE Core staff
took the scientific data and turned it into a wonderful summary that
was given out when the study presented its outcome data at the 2004
International AIDS Conference in Bangkok, Thailand. I especially appreciate
the care that TIE Core staff spent in making sure that the data were
accurately represented in an easy to understand way that incorporated
the input of a dozen or so researchers who were involved in this study.
The CDC has made the fact sheet
available to organizations around the world by placing it on its website.
Thank you for all your hard work."
