Targeted Expansion Project for Outreach and Treatment (TEPOT)

Improving the health and well-being of Asian and Pacific Islanders

TEPOT logo

Targeted Expansion Project for Outreach and Treatment (TEPOT) is a research project that strives to improve the health and well-being of Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) in Santa Clara, San Mateo, and San Francisco counties. Through outreach, training, and research, TEPOT health educators serve as a bridge between culturally competent community, health, and social service agencies and the API population within the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

TEPOT strives to:

  • Increase enrollment of Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) in substance abuse treatment programs and improve treatment efficiency among these clients.
  • Increase the availability of outreach services to the API community in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties.
  • Reduce HIV risk behaviors for APIs in need of or currently enrolled in substance abuse treatment.

To reach its goals TEPOT has implemented three programs:

  1. Outreach Expansion Program
  2. HIV Prevention Enhancement Program (HPEP)
  3. Sensitivity Training Program (STP)
