Men Recently Released from Prison

If you are a man who was recently released from prison and who is in a relationship with a woman OR if you are a woman in a relationship with a man who was recently released from prison, you may be eligible to participate in a research study about what life is like for couples during and after a man’s incarceration. We are trying to learn more about how couples communicate and what kinds of experiences couples have while a man is “inside” and when he returns to the community.

If you are eligible, we will interview you and the person you are in a relationship with. We will pay you $50 each for your participation. You will come to an appointment together, but we will talk to you separately. We will ask you questions about yourself (such as your housing and employment situation), your experiences being incarcerated or visiting incarcerated people, your experiences with substance use, and about the emotional and sexual aspects of your relationship. Everything you say will be kept strictly confidential.

  • For more information about this study and to find out if you are eligible, please call (415) 597-9367.

PATH

Are you HIV+ and not on meds? The PATH Project prepares HIV+ men and women who, based on current treatment guidelines, should be but are not currently taking antiretroviral therapy (ART). The immediate goal of the intervention is to address obstacles to ART uptake. The intervention consists of a one-on-one meeting, followed by a small group session led by cross-disciplinary experts and peers, and a follow-up one-on-one session. A booster session will be provided either at 6 months if a participant has not initiated ART, and/or at the first sign of initiating ART. You can earn cash for participating.
