CAPS Fellowships

Traineeships in AIDS Prevention Studies (TAPS) support postdoctoral fellows for two or three years of training in epidemiology and public health, with special emphasis on conducting AIDS prevention research.

Collaborative HIV Prevention Research in Minority Communities in the United States assists investigators doing HIV prevention research with ethnic minority communities to improve their programs of research and obtain additional funding for their work. Scientists will be funded to spend six weeks during each of three summers at CAPS as well as receiving additional funding for their research projects.

The CAPS/Fogarty International Traineeship in AIDS Prevention Studies (I-TAPS) Program has conducted over 100 joint projects with scientists from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Once each year, we conduct an intensive short-term training program for a select group of developing country scientists. These scientists visit San Francisco to design AIDS prevention research studies for implementation in their home countries, or to prepare scientific manuscripts based on their research.
